Stop! You’re losing too much weight!

There are lots of different reasons why you might want to lose weight.

Most of the time, my clients want to develop a fitter, healthier body, that not only gives them more confidence, but also allows them to do more of the things in their lives that they might be missing out on.

But sometimes, when you start to get some success, comments like this might start to crop up:

“Oooo…you’ve lost too much weight…”

“There will be nothing left of you…”

“You’re wasting away…”

“Why don’t you just eat the cake?!”

Etcetera, etcetera…

Sometimes these comments might ring true. If you’re body weight/fat gets to unhealthy levels in either direction, then yeah, you should probably re-evaluate what you’re doing (still, comments like that don’t help…)

But if that’s not the case, then comments like that could knock your confidence or make you think you should stop and go back to your old self.

And whether they’re doing it on purpose or not, that’s exactly what people want you to do when they say things like that:

STOP!

They don’t want you to change…

And here’s why:

MAYBE THEY’RE EMBARRASSED ABOUT THEIR OWN WEIGHT AND BODY

And they think they can’t do anything about it.

And then here you come with your amazing progress, showing that something can be done if you want to make changes.

Maybe it adds to their guilt, and they want that to stop….

MAYBE THEY’RE JEALOUS

If they’ve been trying for a while to change but have got nowhere, they’ll be jealous that you’re succeeding and they couldn’t.

Or if they are your partner, maybe they are jealous of some extra attention you’re getting from other people, or the new acquaintances you are meeting due to your new lifestyle.

MAYBE THEY’RE WORRIED YOU’LL CHANGE COMPLETELY…

If you’re changing your body, what’s to say other things aren’t going to change…

You might start acting differently.

Perhaps you start dressing a fresh, exciting way.

Now you’re going to new places.

And check out your new swagger…

All of that can be scary as hell to those around you, especially when they feel left out or ‘left behind’.

MAYBE THEY’RE WORRIED ABOUT YOU SPOILING THE PARTY…

In the course of working towards a your fitter body, you may have to say no to a few things.

“No” to that birthday cake when everyone is celebrating.

“I’m busy”, when you’re off to the gym instead of that dinner date.

“I’ll just have some water”, instead of that 3rd glass of wine, when everyone is drinking on…

You can say yes to all of those things (in fact, in my training programs, I encourage it) but when you choose to say no, it can feel to some people like you’re raining on their parade…

SO HOW CAN YOU DEAL WITH THESE SORTS OF COMMENTS?

Well first up, you can just ignore them.

You know you’re doing the right thing by trying to live a healthier lifestyle and make positive changes to your body.

So who cares…?! Let those things wash over you.

But that’s easier said than done, so if it’s someone you are close to and care about… talk to them about it.

Let them in on why you are doing what you’re doing, what it means to you, and what the positives would be for them too (you’re happier; have more energy for them and your family; etc.)

That way you can move forward and enjoy your progress together!

Keeping working towards your goal, because you’re smashing it, and deserve to feel happy with your success!!
